PROPER WINEMATE SYSTEM SELECTION AND ENSURING PROPER INSTALLATION

*** BEFORE TROUBLESHOOTING A WINEMATE UNIT, IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONFIRM THAT THE SPACE IS PROPERLY INSULATED AND ALSO THAT UNIT WAS SIZED PROPERLY AND INSTALLED WITH PROPER CLEARANCES FOR THE AIR SUPPLY AND HOT EXHAUST AIR.

***UNIT MUST BE INSTALLED AT AN ELEVATED POSITION, BETWEEN 6-8 FT OFF THE GROUND, THIS IS TO ENSURE PROPER AIR CIRCULATION.

  • Upon customer inquiry of selecting correct sized cooling system, team must ask for dimensions (preferably in feet) of the customer’s area that they want to cool.

  • Team, must ask what is the LENGTH, WIDTH, AND HEIGHT of the closet, cabinet, or room.
This would be to determine the cubic footage of the area, and then match a cooling unit that can cover the cubic footage.

***FOR SELF-CONTAINED COOLING UNITS – You do not want to exceed a height of 8’FT, this is due to the cold, heavy air potentially not reaching the bottom bottles.

  • Example A: Small closet or cabinet – 2’FT L  x 4’FT W x 8’FT H = 64 cubic ft.
    WM-1500CD/CTED/ WM-1500HTD/TE / WM-1500HZD/HZD-TE COVERS UP TO 90 CUBIC FEET

*** FOR NEWLY INSTALLED WINEMATE, IT IS ALWAYS EASIER AND BEST TO HAVE CUSTOMER SEND IN PHOTOS OF INSTALLATION TO CONFIRM PROPER INSTALLATION AND VENTILATION OF THE EXHAUST AIR

SAMPLE PHOTOS OF CABINET:

Hot exhaust air does not need to ventilate directly outside to the externa elements and no ducting is to be used on the cooling unit. Units cannot be ducted, funneled, or restricted in any manner.
Backside of unit needs to be installed flush with an external wall and exposed to open/ventilated area whether its a hallway, adjacent room, bathroom, etc... A space where the hot air can naturally dissipate into the cooler ambient air.

ENSURING RUBBER GROMMET IS FULLY SEALED (CD COOLING UNITS ONLY):
At the back left corner, on the underside, there is a circular cutout for the head of the power cord to be pulled through.
And also that back section is where the hot exhaust is blowing out from.
Upon coming to the end of the power cord’s slack, there is a rubber grommet that would need to seated properly to fully seal the cutout, and not allow the hot air to seep back into the space you are trying to keep chilled.
With the rubber grommet out of place, all the hot air is allowed to blow back into your cabinet.

Can you please confirm if this rubber seal is in place?

TEMPLATE RESPONSE FOR WINEMATE INSTALLATION PHOTOS:

With the utmost respect, please accept our sincerest apologies for the system issues that you are experiencing with the winemate unit.

Per terms and conditions that were agreed to upon purchasing the item, we require installation photos for troubleshooting. This to determine whether or not the unit is truly defective and needs replacement or a correction needs to be made on the installation and ventilation to ensure unit has proper air circulation for cooling functionality.

We need photos of how the backside (topside, if TOP EXHAUST) of unit is exhausting the hot air.

The backside OR topisde of unit should be flushed to exterior wall and exposed to an open, ventilated space and not be ducted, funneled, or restricted in any manner. The heat needs to naturally dissipate into the ambient air.

Insufficient elevation, air circulation, and improper ventilation would result in unit not cooling properly or condensate overflow.
